Stages Involved for Multiple Teeth Implants
IThere are a few stages that you might undergo when you have multiple implants placed.
First Visit
This visit is the initial consultation where all restorative options are discussed and rough estimates of cost and time frame are discussed. Sometimes Xrays are taken in order for us to identify how much of bone volume is remaining. You can choose to start the treatment process on the same day by allowing us to do take moulds of your mouth to make study models. Depending on the number of teeth that remain, yet another visit may be required for bite registration. Remember that we will match or beat any UK written quote for Dental Implants.
Second Visit
If your moulds and bite registration phase have been completed, then the intricacies of treatment are discussed and a detailed examination is completed. A detailed report will follow.
Third Visit
On agreement of the implant treatment plan, we should be able to place the implants on this visit. There will be occasions where an additional step may be required in terms of showing you a wax model of what the crowns of the implants may look like.
Implant placement can be done with or without IV sedation. Many patients prefer to have IV sedation as it relaxes them and in some instances causes them to forget the whole surgical appointment.
Fourth Visit
A review is usually undertaken a week after successful implant placement. Sometimes stiches in your mouth may be removed.
Fifth Visit
At this visit, the implants are uncovered and the restorative phase begins. From this point on, moulds have to be retaken in order to prepare precise models from which the implant crowns and bridges are to be made. Photographs are taken in order to give the laboratory as much information as possible when they craft your individual crown or bridge work. More similar visits may be required if there are metal frameworks that need to be tried in.
Sixth Visit
A review is usually undertaken 2-4 weeks after successful crown placement. Sometimes minor adjustments will need to be made in order to improve comfort when biting.
After successful implant placement and crown placement, we recommend that you see the hygienist and have regular reviews in our office.
** Please note that in some instances, there might be more visits depending on the patient's individual circumstances. Treatment plans may sometimes change along the way. This is always done with consent from the patient.
